Eagles vs Cowboys
The month started off like most analysts predicted and the Cowboys were 0-2. Talk of them missing the playoffs for the second straight year could be heard all over the league. The Dallas players and coaches kept their heads up and talked tough going into a game where Dungy said they have “No chance” of beating the Saints. They ended up winning that game in thrilling fashion 24-17. The following week they march into Washington and win that game 17-0.
Now at 2-2 the topic of conversation has shifted from Can Tony Romo and the Cowboys finally win in December, to can the Cowboys beat the Eagles and win the NFC East? Can they secure a 1st round bye?
Philly’s path to the playoffs has been a little different. They’ve played well except for back to back losses to Dallas and San Diego. Since those losses they’ve won 6 in a row and looked pretty good doing it. Now it all comes down to the final game of the season. If the Eagles win they not only win the NFC East but they also secure the #2 seed, giving them a first round bye.
If Dallas wins they would also win the NFC East but they have a shot at a second round bye with a Vikings and Cardinals loss.
Whoever wins this should be a fantastic game. It’s my pick for game of the week. I’ve always said that of all the division rivalries the NFC East seems to produce the best matchups.
My pick: The Eagles continue to roll and win a hard fought game.
