Heading into tomorrow’s National Title game theres one thing we can all agree on, both of these teams deserve to be here. Alabama will take the Field at the Rose Bowl with the #1 rank. If there could be a #1A it would be Texas, instead they’re ranked #2.
Colt McCoy will attempt to be just the 2nd quarterback to add 4 bowl wins to his resume, Pat White was the first. To say he’s had a good career at Texas would be an understatement. McCoy enters this game with 13,244 passing yards and 112 touchdowns. Colt’s used to winning. To find the last time he lost a game you have to back to November 1st 2008 vs Texas Tech.
When people talk about Alabama they always mention Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram and that’s understandable. He did rush for 1542 yards with 15 touchdowns. He also was the #3 in receiving yards for the Crimson Tide with 30 receptions, 322 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Before Nick Saban’s return to college football the Tide was nowhere near National Title contention and winning seasons were hard to come by. Saban took over the program in 2007 and now 3 seasons in The Crimson Tide have a chance to win their 12th National Title. This would be Saban’s second as a head coach having won a National Title in 2003 with LSU. Saban’s Tigers beat Alabama that year 27-3 and The Tide finished the season with a 4-9 record.
With all the coverage this game has received it will be tough to live up to the hype but this sports fan hopes it does.
