Willd Card weekend is always fun to watch. The last 3 out of 4 years a team that played in the Wild Card round went on to win the Super Bowl. With some strong teams playing this weekend lets take a look at the games one at a time.
Eagles at Cowboys
Tony Romo and the Cowboys have shown the critics that the calendar doesn’t determine when they win or lose. They would like to keep that momentum going while also getting the Cowboy their first playoff win since 1996. McNabb and the Eagles might have something to say about that when they travel to Big D tonight. Let’s take a look at the stats and see how this might play out.
Tony Romo brings with him an offense that ranked 6th in passing, 7th in rushing and 2nd overall behind only the New Orleans Saints. Lining up on the other side of the ball is an Eagles defense that ranked 17th against the pass, 9th against the run and 12th overall. Philly loves to blitz and will keep Romo and his offensive line hard at work all day. Jason Whitten and Marion Barber will also have to be on the look out for the blitz as they can come from anywhere with this defense.
When its Philly’s turn on offense McNabb will take the field with the 10th ranked passing attack, 22nd rushing and 11th overall. They will attempt to march down the field vs a Dallas defense that finished the season 20th against the pass, 4th against the run and 9th overall. This defense has appeared to be playing downhill lately brining pressure with just their front four. Look for McNabb to try and burn that pass rush with screens to the outside and try to make them pay.
I always say I love watching the NFC East games because they’re so competitive. Playoff time is even better though. This has all the makings of being game of the weekend.
