NFC Showdown

Cowboys at Vikings

Its January and Tony Romo is still playing football, Wade Phillips still has his job and the critics of both are quite. Not only did they finish December with a winning record, they also managed to win their first playoff game since 1996. The Cowboys didn’t just win a playoff game, they beat a division rival for the 3rd time this season and did so convincingly.

The Vikings started off the season 10-1 and things were good. The next 4 games they went 1-3 and looked to be in trouble. Then in week 17 they showed up again, beating the Giants 44-7. That begs the question, which team will we see tomorrow?

Thanks to the emergence of Miles Austin, Dallas can lay claim to the 6th ranked passing offense. They are also ranked 7th rushing and 2nd overall on offense. Trying to stop the Cowboys from marching down the field will be a Vikings defense that ranks 19th against the pass, 2nd against the run and 6th overall.

Favre and the Vikings bring with them an offense that ranks 8th passing, 13th rushing and 5th overall. Favre will be staring at a Dallas secondary that ranked 20th against the pass while Adrian Peterson will try to run through the 4th ranked rushing defense and 9th overall.

This is the toughest of all the games to pick a winner. The only thing we can be certain of is that Brett Favre will become the oldest quarterback to start a post season game at the age of 40.

Prediction: I’m picking the Cowboys to keep it rolling and meet the Saints in the NFC Championship game.
